The Football Field
After about 20 – 30 minutes walking, the gully widens and shallows. This area was called ‘the football field’ and one can imagine it as a busy intersection where Artillery Road descends from Fir Tree Spur on the right and Artillery Row where it climbs to the left up to Gully Spur on the seaward side.

Ahead, the gully once again narrows, but if you are following the tour in sequence you can now take a detour up Artillery Row to the seldom visited but still identifiable and fascinating locations on Gully Spur.
